Will be interesting to see how the midfield evolves with Lia recovering from her abscess. Lots of positives with Frida’s form and more potential opportunities for KCC and Kafaji. I was really enjoying Pelova before the injury. So hard to tell with ACLs how long recovery will take. I’m still scarred by how long it took for Christen Press to come back to Angel City after her ACL.
for all the reasons you outlined i do think this first half of the season was always going to be significant for frida's future, and i'm very happy to see it go so well for her. she had to make the most of the opportunities in this period from having viv gone, pelova unfortunately sidelined, and kafaji being carefully managed.
the improved versatility is also really positive imo, because the interpretation of what you want your midfielders to do is often very variable between different head coaches - so with arsenal's luxury of available options in the squad i do think it's promising for the longer term that she's been able to show greater variety in her game during this run.
very interested to see how things continue to develop later in the season where you potentially start to see pelova being reintegrated, kafaji's involvement increasing, and even possibly a new manager..!
re: Rosa - given your comments about her being carefully managed - will the naysayers ever listen to this reasoning, rather than claiming there is some kind of vendetta against her? So frustrating.
