What a lovely story.. how lucky were you to be able to share Arsenal with your mum 🥰 I started going to Highbury in my mid teens but mostly I had to go on my own and found it quite a lonely experience with no one to share it with, especially being a girl in the early 80’s.. in those days men didn’t think women knew anything about football and it was very tribal.. I am now lucky enough to share my passion for Arsenal with my son and it is a wonderful connection to have with him 😁
God, unlearning the misogyny. I'm *still* unlearning it. I'm unaware of any women's professional sports being available to watch for most of my childhood. The first league I can remember hearing of is the WNBA, and, since we weren't a basketball family, I don't even know when those games were first shown on TV. Throw in living in Texas, and misogynistic attitudes towards women's sports were basically the air I breathed. I'm incredibly grateful that smog is (mostly) clearing in the US now, and I'm also grateful for your role in that, Tim.
Well said on the importance of the matchday programme. Have been trying to compile a list of all the AWFC results over the years and the mens programme has been by far the most important resource there.
As for the Millwall game you mentioned, I have us down as playing them at home on 29/4/1997 and winning 6-0. Could that have been the game you were thinking of?
What a lovely relationship you have with your mum. After reading and listening to you for many years, I would never have you down as a stats man!!!! Great read as always

I used to live next door to your mum, and she was always out on the green outside our houses.
Was this in Brighton?

God bless your mum for encouraging your interest in the women’s side. She sounds like a cool person.
