I really like your 'background' items Tim. You provide the reader with an insight into how things work and that simply writing a blog or newsletter doesn't just happen by sitting around!

My feeling is that folk will always want genuine articles, written in good faith rather than EXCLUSIVE! SENSATIONAL! and SCOOP! stories such as the general press tend to shout across their pages. Quality not quantity is what counts, keep it coming across all your arseblog duties. Thanks.

I appreciate when reputable sources report on transfer news (for men and women’s teams), but I take everything with a grain of salt. Until the club reports it, all the training photos in the world with Emily Fox in the background of the shot are just speculation! 😆 I did enjoy her debut yesterday. She’s been great for the USWNT, and in NWSL. As a lifelong Arsenal fan, I’m very proud to see Fox play for our club. She grew up an hour away from where I did, so it warms my heart to see a fellow Virginian in the red & white.

I enjoy women's football transfers and I will be sad when we fully break from finding stuff out because your twitter mutual is mates with a player's mum or in my case your girlfriend's boss worked in the Police with Russo's dad and still sees him socially and got told she was pretty set on Arsenal unless Utd offered something silly.

I like the way the rumour mill isn't Arsenal twitter following flight logs and working out cloud patterns from player's agent's instagrams.

Great article as always. As has already been noted, your background items are a really good insight into your reporting world.

Knowing you did English Lit at university explains your earliest musings when I had to have a dictionary with me to understand them fully!

I have enjoyed them for many years all the same!

Thanks Tim .. I got into Logistics 40 years ago and learnt on the job as I went along too, and soon found out that accurate info needed 3 sources, just like to draw an accurate straight line with a pencil and ruler you need 3 dots/reference points. As a naive 20 year old i was unnerved when i found out someone could be so convincing and yet so wrong (sometimes maliciously!)... but her we are both older, wiser and better at our respective jobs. Can’t beat experience which comes from learning the hard way lol

I don’t pay much attention to transfer rumours until they happen, and then I can delve into what it means for the team and start to get excited. That said I only pay attention to Arseblog/cast anyway, so your secrets are safe with me :-)
